The Localization Certification Program is comprised of three components:
- 45 hours of self-paced, online instruction
- 3 day intensive, hands-on workshop
- Localization Certification exam
Online Modules
You will start the program with self-paced, online instruction focusing
on localization and international e-business concepts and progress through
a series of modules that highlight winning strategies, budgeting, ROI, project
management, content management, vendor management, and additional localization
challenges, technologies and solutions. You will learn this online information
using a combination of online video presentations, power point, lecture
notes, and self-quizzes. Online content is developed with the help of our
faculty expertise, MultiLingual magazine, and industry experts.
Hands-on Workshop
After completing the online instruction, you will join our team of experts
for an intensive three day workshop. Faculty and
experts from the industry will present the latest approaches, tools,
and applications.
Our past workshops have featured industry experts and guest speakers from companies
such as Google, HP, Microsoft, Cisco, and Lionbridge. In addition, you will
receive hands-on software training in localization tools and technologies.
Certification Exam
The Localization Certification exam is the culminating component of the
program and is administered on the final day of the workshop. Certification
is offered by California State University, Chico Continuing Education,
The Globalization and Localization Association (GALA), and The Localization
Institute. In addition, the program has been approved for American
Translators Association (ATA) continuing education credits. 10 ATA credits
are awarded for the completion of the online modules and 10 ATA credits
for completion of the hands-on workshop.
Program fees include access to online modules, registration for the three
day on-site workshop, test fees for the Localization Certification Exam,
program materials, coffee and snacks during the three-day workshop.
All fees are due at the time of registration. Fees are non-refundable.
