Application Instructions for Students Applying for the California Teachers of English Learners Certificate (CTEL).

Once you have navigated to the CSUMentor.edu website ( http://www.csumentor.edu ), select the “Apply Online” tab. Next click on “Graduate Admission Applications”.

Select the term (semester) you would like to start your degree. If you don't have a CSU Mentor account, you will need to create one at this point.

Once you have created an account, select “CSU, Chico Graduate” from the list of institutions. After selecting CSU, Chico click “Start a New Application” directly under the institution box.

Scroll to the very bottom of the page and click “Begin Application for CSU Chico Graduate”.

On page #1 “Enrollment Information”, locate the “Major/Program Objective” pull down menu and select: “Credential: Conditionally Classified”.

Under the header “Degree/Credential Objective” heading, the next pull-down menu “Degree Objective” and select “None”.

Next select “CTEL Certificate” from the “Credential Objective name” pull down menu.

Continue completing the application as required. When you get step #10 Statement of Purpose (on the left-hand menu) indicate your interest in pursuing the California Teachers of English Learners Certificate (CTEL).
